What are your thoughts on thin body "lite" LPs?

Post by Guitarbilly »

I was just offered to buy one of those Les Paul Lite with the thinner body. The seller is a friend so he's giving me a great price ($750).. I'm considering buying it as a backup guitar. I usually carry 2 guitars on a dual gig bag to shows and having a lighter LP for a backup could be a good idea. The guitar is only 6.5lbs so that's great.
But I never played one of these guitars. I think it would be strange to have a LP with a thin body....
I'm going to his place tomorrow to try it out but I wanted to get some of your opinions too.

Wouldn’t kind of like playing a Jr. or Special?

I think so, although this one has an archtop.

I know a guy who had a few of the Custom Lites and he liked them enough that he bought more than one.

I don’t have any experience with them though.

I have a buddy that has two. One's a goldtop with P90s and the other is a black Standard with P90s. He loves them.
Guitars:
Way too many, yet not enough

Amps:
I need more than just Jet City amps

Effects:
There's always room for another

Yeah, I think I agree.
I was trying to talk myself into it because the price was good but it a thin LP with the archtop doesn't look right.
I'd probably would get a Special or Jr if I'd go that route.

Custom lite id pick up for $750. Any other not so much. I've never played a custom lite but been told they are like an SG.
