Hahaha I still have a bunch of amps and also ended up picking up something pretty epic recently so had to off a few things to help offset the cost. And like I said I just haven't been using the III. Purging stuff actually felt pretty good though.
Nice what did you get?
I'm actually eyeballing a "relatively" lower priced purple stripe locally.... just a 60 watter non-GEQ which is a bit of a bummer but I was testing the Mesa GEQ model in the HX stomp with my IV and V to see how that might compare. Sound and feel were a bit different from the actual GEQs, and not quite as good but it was actually a lot closer than I expected. Close enough that I could probably make due with using that with a non GEQ unit given how much lower the price is than any III i've seen in years
I'm not exactly in buying mode at the moment. But it's already been sitting for a month, if its still around in another few weeks I might not be able to resist
I just saw your post on the gear forum. $1200 for a 60 watt nonGEQ III is too much lol. Last one I saw was maybe 7-8 years ago at GC in Tampa...full watts, GEQ, $800. I should've bought it.

That III that JiveTurkey posted in that thread is at my local GC. IT DOES NOT FUCKING WORK!! It's been there for a year. I see it every time I go there. I tried to play it a couple of times, and the dude was like...yeah, it got returned. It won't power on, and they refuse to get it looked at, and yet it remains listed on their site for $1900.

Yeah that was 7-8 years ago tho, IIIs have monumentally spiked in price since then

Damn that sucks :/ typical GC BS
Although, I'd be tempted to stroll in there with an extra fuse in my pocket and scope that out

I’ve just been playing thru my IV, ngl mate this amp just titty fucking good times epic tone. I’ve played countless $2k amps that don’t sound nearly as good I’d almost argue to just bite the bullet on shitty GC prices

Side note: I know rhy 2 tones probably don’t fucking matter in Rafs world
BUT I’ve often heard people say forget about a good sound on that channel bht I adore it. I don’t necessarily have it set up for a “crunch”/mid gain tone so maybe that’s why but I have mine set to be -almost- identical to my clean tone but with just a touch of extra hair to it and it sounds glorious

GC near me has this:
https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/MESA- ... mbo-Amp.gc
Im certain they screwed this listing up and it’s actually a III. I’m pretty sure III. The back plate has the indicator for the R2 footswitch njack on the bottom of the chassis as well as the EQ-Rev switch. It should a purple stripe. Speaker is interesting. That’s an eminence MS12 Black Shadow. I can see the start of the SN stamp and it starts with 17 so it’s in the 17000 range, which may mean purple stripe. Most IIIs started in the 15000 range. IIs ended in the 14000 range.
Only things I can’t tell: tube compliment and transformer type. It seems to have 6L6s but I can’t tell if it’s a 60 or 100. Or if it’s simul-class or not. Because I’ve seen folks run all 6L6s in the simul class amps before.

Yeah definitely think that’s a a III, AFAIK there weren’t any IIs that had that treble knob as a pull pot
Of course GC photography made it impossible to tell how many power tubes it has

Yep, Mark III. The Mid knob has the Rhythm 2 pull knob.
90w. The 60w tubes are on the right side, so any tubes near the effects loop means it's a full quad.
