Hahahaha it did come off a little bit of an advertisement, didn't it lol.

I still like other tubes, but the prices they are asking for Russian tubes are stupid. I get there are things at play, but they aren't that good to justify the cost. I do like the Mullard CV4004 for gain stages. Also the Svetlana EL34s are pretty sweet too; honesty they are pretty similar to the JJ EL34s. They give that classic EL34 vibe.

Part of the reason I bought JJs was due to Russian tubes being insanely priced.

Tung Sol for V1, Sovtek LPS for PI, JJ for everything else.
I like JJ 6L6's and Electro Harmonix for EL34's.

I liked JJs before that circumstance happened in that part of the world, however the prices really convinced me to keep with JJs.

As for some reasons, and aside the pricing, I am as well not willing to buy Russian tubes these days, so I ordered a pair of PSVane 5881 through Ali yesterday. I am curious how this plays out. Less than half the price than the German retailer is asking - IMO not much risk to give it a try - let’s see …

The only thing I would worry about is whether the tubes have been sorted through to remove the ones that are likely to fail. Hopefully PSVane is good at providing quality tubes. I have seen them being used a lot in the the HiFi world, so hopefully they are solid.
