It's basically two cables in a heat-shrink casing. One is the standard 20ft EB instrument cable, and the other is a 20 ft headphone extension cable. The jack for plugging in your headphones is about 8 inches from the guitar side right angle jack. It puts your headphones plugged right about where the strap hits the body. The other end has two jacks, one for the headphones with included 1/4" adapter or 1/8" plug, and then a straight 1/4" jack for the guitar.

It is a little stiffer than a standard guitar cable but it is miles better than having two 20ft cables following me around all night. Wireless never made much sense for me since I am also the singer and tied to a microphone, so this was just a no-brainer for my setup. I have also debated building my own version of this cable with a stereo instrument cable for my PRS with piezo saddles.

I see. This is interesting. I may pick one up and see if I like it. I suppose I'd need the soundguy to send me an AUX feed, or I can simply unplug the wedge and plug it into the headphone amp. Not a bad idea.... :hmm:

Thats exactly what I do. If its a powered wedge, I just tap the xlr out of the wedge with an xlr to 1/4" TRS cable. If it is a passive wedge hooked to a power amp, I have an inline box that will grab a line-level feed off of a powered load with pass-through. Some sound guys have been a little apprehensive about me connecting to their wedges but after I walk them through most have been ok with it.

This is why I always bring my own FRFR when running DI and the sound man has zero control over it. I ALWAYS split my signal so that the house gets a signal and my FRFR gets one and nary the two shall touch.

Even though I go IEM's every show, I've been doing the split signal FRFR thing for several years with various DI solutions and have had consistently great stage sound, good powerful projection, etc.

I've recently played a few shows with the Mark VII along with my 1x12 mako cab and my 2x12 whitebox cab and can't tell hardly any difference in overall power and projection vs the FRFR.

I'm looking at the new JBL PRX912 to replace my 1st gen EV ZLX though.
Too much junk to list with 255 characters.

I use IEMs and I still can't get on with any type of direct signal, whether something full digital, or even using captor with my real amps. Slapping a mic onto my cab sounds and feels better (including in my IEMs) 100% of the time :idk:

Yeah but that's carrying a cab, FRFR or not. To me the ONLY advantage of DI is not having to carry a cab.. If I am going to carry a cab I'll just bring my rig.

It's still here, I'm not going to dismantle it. I think it's important to have some kind of DI option these days. But I won't be using it unless I have to.

FYI, the Ampero II Stomp just got an update and enables tone capture. i updated but didn't have time to mess with it. will try to capture my Randall V2 later today to see how it sounds.

its a shame the Headrush FRFR's sounds so horrible - its a nice, easy to carry little speaker. i've tried a ton of IR's with it, and it just sounds like ass. i've had the 12" (sold after 3 days), and currently have the 8" that my brother gave me. i'll be sticking with real poweramps and cabs for my at home rock concerts lol.

EVH FRFR is less than 28lbs vs. 60lbs for a regular EVH 2x12 cab. couldn't tell you how good they sound ... people say they're good, but i've seen good reviews on the Headrush, too <vomit>
