I'm really curious to see if this will affect the used Mark IIC+ market...one way or another. I'd love to get my hands on one of these having never played one, though. Closest I got is my Mark III.

You'd think for $3600 they'd add a few slight modern features, such as a 16r tap

I don't see this affecting used IIC+ prices. They will keep their value. People are crazy for the old ones and will find something to complain about here, or praise the old ones above these.
Even modern Mesa amps do not have a 16 ohm tap. The Mark VII and JP don't have that.
Marks after the V are pretty different. They fixed some of the cascading gain controls and push/pulls, so while those amps are great, they don't get the same feel and response as pre Mark V Marks.
Like Bill said, a lot of times simpler is better. They pack a lot of modes and features into the new ones, which IMO detracts a bit from the tone. Plus, the new amps have this modern sheen on top of them that the IVs and IIIs I've played don't have. I have to assume the IIC+ also does not have that.
The price is not my favorite. It actually hasn't been on any of the Mesas lately, but when you compare it to something like a SLO or a Friedman, it is as iconic of a tone as these amps, and these amps command $4k+ prices, so I don't necessarily see the problem. We've just been spoiled by historically lower Mark series new prices.
All that said, I fucking want one haha.

I agree with the price not being too crazy given the demand and alleged historical significance of the amps.
I'm certainly not in the market for one, but if I were to be looking for a top range amp, which this is surely supposed to be, its priced competitively.

$3600 isn’t bad at all if it nails the tones of the original. I’d have to play one in person to see if it has the big wide tone but based on the pics it looks like they spec’d the transformers properly.
Might have to pick one up.

What a poor statement.
If they changed it at all, it’d be just like all the other modern iterations. This is supposed to be an authentic reissue of the original.
$3600 is on the low end of the top tier amp range.

I give it about a day before someone who's never played a real IIC+ says they tried one and it doesn't sound like a real IIC+.

I figure this happens before they're even available to try. Cork sniffers gotta get a leg-up these days, or they're just trend-hoppin'.
