Dang it. Thought I dodged this bullet. Still going to hold off until Billy confirms that the SDE-3000D does sound warmer / more lively than the DD-500 before I pull the trigger. Maybe.

Nope. Bullet not dodged
But DD-500 is a good pedal anyway. I sold mine a while ago and I was actually thinking of buying another one when this sale popped up and the SDE was a non-brainer at this price. If I still had the 500, I'm not sure if I'd bother buying this one. Maybe.

The re202 is absolute perfection if you want to sound like jeremy from “this will destroy you” or brian setzer.
There’s nothing better for that sound.

What does the EVH version offer over the standard iteration? Curious if I have any wants that would make me spring for the EVH version.

It has custom outputs for a wet/dry/wet rig and a noise gate. But the delay is the exact same.
I just use mono anyway, and I don't need the gate so the standard version is fine.
Oh the EVH also comes preloaded with Ed's personal settings. But they're not hard to dial in on the standard anyway.

Good to know. I ordered the standard version. I'm glad I waited a few weeks to get it for $250 instead of $500.

that is the way
If I didn't buy the RE-202, I would have probably bought one of the SDE-3000Ds
