I’m curious how was it wired and what gauge speaker wire?

Thinking about this… I seem to remember that Zakk switched to EVMs because he ran his 800s stupid loud and was blowing V30s. So maybe there’s something to that?

Didn't he use T75 speakers at some point? I thought i read that he did.

Zakk was v30s very early on, then EVM. Although it's possible that before joining Ozzy he was just using standard marshall cabs with the 75s.

But No Rest For The Wicked is actually a 50w JMP 2x12 combo with v30s that belonged to producer Keith Olsen. Then on the the tour he started with v30s but switched to EVMs.
He also uses 6505 tubes on his amps so that's even more power lol

Anyway, I just ordered 4 Redbacks from Sweetwater. They should be here on Thursday. 150w per speaker that should work.

Woah, that is unexpected. I wonder if the speakers were partially defective and that was only noticed when pushing them harder revealed.

I think celestion only has 3 years warranty (i'm guessing its well past) on their speakers but would be curious what they may say if contacted Celestion describing what happened.

2203s are the 100 watts. 2204 are 50s. Zakk’s JCM’s have been 100 watts.

That's a good question. I actually bought this set last year from Mesa. I'm going to ask them about it.

I ran my 4104 (2204 in combo form) 10 on master volume with gain on 8.5 for at least 40 or 50 hours into a single V30 when recording in my isobox and it didn't seem to hurt it at all. I would definitely check the wiring when replacing the speakers.

Yeah it's strange. But the wiring is fine. I put 2 other speakers in the cab today just for the meantime,while I wait for the Redbacks and the cab is working again, with the same wiring.
