Those low gain tones are another huge benefit the SLO has over the other Soldanos.

Why only 30 watts out of two 6L6s? Is it underrated on purpose? When I think of 30 watts I think of 4xEL84s.

Yeah he basically designed the amp to mimic what Evh did with a variac on his plexis. Results in reduced wattage but since it still has massive transformers it sounds huge.

Here it is:

Real test is tomorrow with the band (I changed practice day so I could wait for the amp  ) but so far I love it. It sounds like a real SLO. The master volume is VERY gradual, to the point I thought it wasn't going to be loud enough, but it picks up when it's past 4 and gets really loud after that.
Tons of gain on the overdrive channel, as expected. Gain on 3 is more than enough for my rhythm tone. On 5 I can play leads without a boost.

Crunch channel is great too. More 800 like.

Can't wait to take it to practice tomorrow!!!

Damn the purple looks so fucking good

I’ve found I definitely run the gain lower than I’d expect on the overdrive channel. About the same settings 3 for rhythm and 5 for lead, depending on the guitar.

Yeah I like the purple tolex a lot. It wasn't intentional, this was just the one I found for a good price (2200 open box new, so it comes with the lifetime warranty), and I wasn't sure if I would like the color, but it looks killer in person.
