Race, I think you'd like the Omega stuff. I waited MONTHS for an Obsidian, and basically hated it immediately haha. Very round low end.
Then Tom came and visited and told me Kyle actually designed the Omega stuff. I got a KSR Ares recently, and was thinking back to the Obsidian, and was like...yeah, that makes a lot of sense lol. Very similar tone between the Ares and the Obsidian.
i thought i remembered you having one for a minute, i remember hearing a couple clips of them and they were hoffific sounding, this granophyre though

maybe i gotta check out the ares too

Welcome!!!! The clip sounds great!! Setting aside all the controversy that usually surrounds Larry amps, the fact is he builds a hell of an amp. Especially when you put it in a mix.

haha yeah, definitely wasn't my favorite, but it sounded pretty good recorded. The Granophyre does seem tighter and more aggressive, but it's a hefty price tag for me to fuck around and find out lol. Also, since channel, and I needed channel switching. Not sure if that's so necessary now.

So I didn’t like the obsidian, like really at all. The new granophyre with the tweaks it has and the adjustable negative feedback for it is huge for it IMO. A lot of fun to play. Almost reminds me of a bit of a solid state sound… but it’s tube. Hard to pin it.

I feel like this whole statement is the norm rather than the exception when it comes to the small amp builder ecosystem in general. Like... there's been more amp builders who have totally shit the bed with the public than those who haven't at this point.
The Venn diagram of "can build a great amp" and "can intelligently navigate company PR and customer issues" has a razor thin sliver of crossover.

Amp sounds interesting. A little sizzly/mid scooped for my liking, but maybe that works in a mix, or could just be dialed out
