Nice. I was wondering why we never see any modded Laneys? There a gh50 for sale at RT, was thinking maybe snagging it and sending it to groundzero or monomyth and telling them go to town
Because they're great out of the box. The only thing I'd consider adding to a GH series is a depth mod.
i dig my gh100s plenty and wouldnt mod it, but marshalls and rectos are great on their own as well and i like what guys do to them, i just thought laneys were cheap and relatively simple to work on that maybe someone could do something cool
I think techs develop mods for circuits that are common so they have a good pool of potential clients to draw from.
Right now it seems like the Marshall Origin is the amp to mod, there are a lot of guys offering mods for it, some of them are quite good.
But it would still Origin in the front panel and I cannot be seen with such noobery on stage

How much of an overhaul does the Origin need to not sound like refried meh?

It's a shame as the GH boards are pretty easy to work on too. Lots of space to play in. I guess as #billy said, there just isn't enough of them in the wild.

People litterally replace the entire PCB

Congrats, I've been wanting a Laney again lately. I've only played the GH amps, which are awesome. I want to try the Supergroup and Lionheart amps, but no one has them locally.

I like my GH30r but it is not like the GH's of old. The newer ones are more of a mix between a superbass and an Orange sound wise. Makes for a great pedal platform and the clean channel cranked is beautiful. The gain channel is just a little muddy. I would have modded it to be more like a 800 or a modded plexi but when I opened it up, its all SMD construction and Laney will not give out the schematics at all.

I have my monomyth origin and that thing hangs with any of my amps, it may be my favorite amp to record with actually, but yeah it’s still looks like an origin lol

Cool. Only ever saw one of these pop up in the local shops used, and didn't dare let myself plug into it as I was broke-ass at the time.
The name laney throws me right back to the laney cab pics thread. Good times.

The GH on RigTalk is mine. (Assuming it’s the one that is going to be doing the circle tour).
I love the amp, but am just looking to clear a little space at home and figured id offer it there since I’ll be swinging through some states.
If no takers, oh darn, I still have a great amp
