I really like my Captor X, but I am definitely feeling the urge to come back to earth with real shit again. Especially with this new amp coming in, I'm excited to hear it in all it's glory, not through a little monitor

oh without a doubt. These things are very convenient on certain situations but playing through a cab whenever possible is an entirely different thing. There's really no comparison.

I hear you!
We do this for fun, so dealing with subpar situations isn’t worth the time and effort saved when it takes away the fun aspect.
Pro cover/tribute band guys it makes sense since they’re playing for serious money.
I have been DI for about 8 years at this point and ran into this CONSTANTLY at first. I bought a powered floor monitor that was stupid loud and relatively flat and I kept it in the car for those situations for years. I run IEMs now and have gotten away from the pain. Some cheap options exist to get into the IEM world for less $. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GYDPVXB
Really balanced sounding for cheap IEMs
https://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-aud ... -amplifier
I have a few of these floating around my gear bags for those nightmare scenarios where the monitor feed is trash. I just have them cut my guitar out of my monitor, feed their monitor feed in to the TRS input and my direct box output through the other input/thru and out to FOH. I get an unmolested guitar feed with a volume I can control. I just walk out and listen to the mix using a looper playing a riff and attempt to help the sound man get a good balance if possible.
I miss the sound of a 4x12 flapping my pants legs sometimes but not enough to deal with dragging an amp/cab/rack around.

I have the KZ headphones from when I was using an IEM system. But I longer have the system. I might buy another system in the future.
