his rig with Seal is a quad cortex (which makes total sense in this context)

Yeah for pop music, modeling is perfect. Sounds good and blends well with synths.
For guitar-driven music, I need an amp or at least an analog preamp.

Modelling has come a long way and works decently enough for recording, but it seems one dimension when playing live, rehearsing, at home, etc.

For those who asked, he is using an Xotic BB Preamp. It'd be cool to see how that is being set to see the full picture.
The Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555X has been on my list of amps to check out for a while and it does not disappoint. I'd go as far as to say it's my favorite Marshall. It retains the punch and balls of an 800 (though just a tiny bit less) with added gain that sounds much more lush than a JCM900 or JVM to my ears. The master volume has a really slow taper making it easier to get good tones at quieter volumes. Tried to pick out some riffs that would showcase the 2555x. Riffs galore!
Signal Chain:
2007 Gibson Les Paul Custom Silverburst
Pedalboard (Pedals used: Xotic BB Preamp & BOSS DD-500)
Friedman Buffer Bay
Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555x
Suhr Pete Thorn 2x12 Cabinet with Celestion G12H75's
Shure SM57
Universal Audio Apollo 8p
Logic Pro X
Waves rVerb - Stereo

I knew I had some clips handy. And i had started my habit of labeling the gear for the mad types of things. So Jubilee Boosted with a TS9, into a cab loaded with k100s and the Eminence DV77. Kinda crazy how I came to dislike both of those speakers but this sounds pretty damn good.

I knew it sounds like it was a "more" pedal rather than OD. Thanks Ace!

Also not a fan of either of those speakers but that clip sounds good. The bass pops hard too - what were you running for that?
