Fwiw, the 59 is the only one of those i like. They got it right since it’s nice and low output.

Duncan is REALLY good at all kinds of humbuckers. They can even make a5 work.

That said, I’ll take a custom custom or a seth lover over the 59 or the jb.

Personal preference.

I have done many of the same mods. My favorite toneZone is one I half aired it with the magnet touching the slug side and put an a2 magnet in. It sounds huge but well defined. Reminds me a lot of the EB Axis pickup. It has lived in my les paul custom for a long time.

I think what Billy said might be it. It's the opposite of what I'm used to, this would explain why I'm like wtf?! Thanks all. I'll mess with the height a little and see how that goes.

Don't just mess with the pickup height. Also mess with the screw pole pieces.

Everyone else already mentioned what I would have.

It can be an amazing pickup and an ideal solution........If you have a maple neck/board/body and maple strings and fingers.

I ripped the Tone Zone pretty quickly out of my SoCal back in 2011 and don’t have much desire to revisit it.

I think I have a Tone Zone floating around, unless I traded it with someone on here? I wouldn't mind taking another stab at it, maybe a JHS pedal might help?
