JB, 59, Jazz, 85, 60A, SA, et al didn't get the memo, I guess.

Fwiw, the 59 is the only one of those i like. They got it right since it’s nice and low output.

Duncan is REALLY good at all kinds of humbuckers. They can even make a5 work.

That said, I’ll take a custom custom or a seth lover over the 59 or the jb.

Personal preference.

I’ve even tried modding em with different mags and the a5 wins. Half aired tone Zone, actually might help solve issues for people. It tightens up and lowers the output some.

I have done many of the same mods. My favorite toneZone is one I half aired it with the magnet touching the slug side and put an a2 magnet in. It sounds huge but well defined. Reminds me a lot of the EB Axis pickup. It has lived in my les paul custom for a long time.

I think what Billy said might be it. It's the opposite of what I'm used to, this would explain why I'm like wtf?! Thanks all. I'll mess with the height a little and see how that goes.

Don't just mess with the pickup height. Also mess with the screw pole pieces.
