This is one the most iconic mixing boards of all time, if most THE most iconic. Truly a historic piece. And a piece of art as well I can't even complain about the price.

If this isn't the highest sale of any music related item of all time I'd be shocked. What makes me sad is the idea that some collector will squirrel it away in a house somewhere as an art installation, but I also have problems seeing musical instruments chained up in museums, so that's a me problem, I suppose.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous, probably what will happen tbh.

Kudos to the techs who rebuilt that thing. Pretty sweet console

I usually agree with this but I don't think this particular console would be out of place in a music history museum.
But maybe one of the big studios will pick it up. It would definitely be a good selling point for the studio to have a room with that console.

I'd love to see the Abby Road board in a museum.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC has a cool musical instrument section. It has a lot of really old instruments, one of Beethoven's pianos and one of Gerry Garcia's guitars on display. They could raise the money by selling a Picasso or two.
