Re: ohhhh shieetttt
I know he gets “quality” tones and I’m sure he knows his stuff as far as mixing and how to get this or that type of sound. And he’s no different than many out there and myself included, where I kinda get similar tones no matter what you throw in front of me. But he’s stuff is so bland and lacks “excitement”. I get why he calls his shit “Big Hairy guitars” cause they do have this sort of hair on it. But not hair in how we think. But like a matted down head of hair. Lol. It’s almost sorta of fuzzy and soft high end. I just never hear his demos and think, THATS the gear for me! Not knocking his personality cause he’s still somewhat ok to watch but I listened to this demo and while the price point is actually very reasonable and the whole included IRs is awesome and it would be a great studio piece. Not one tone here, even his totally 80s centric tones had any of the teeth and balls I’d like to hear in some of his demos. Altho maybe this can’t do it? But I kinda get the feeling it can do more than sorta warm, medium gained out rock with barely enough saturation etc etc..
Anyway, seems like a nice guy. Hahahs

I know what you mean, he dials in a "polished product" as opposed to a raw, hearing the ugly bits sort of sound. Lots of grease on it. I enjoy his videos in that he seems the least pretentious compared to most of the other youtubers doing these first look demos. He comes across as an enthusiast, who happens to have great production skills.Endtime wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 1:13 amI know he gets “quality” tones and I’m sure he knows his stuff as far as mixing and how to get this or that type of sound. It seems to have plenty of gain to me, but for lack of a better word, the "shape" of the sound is just a bit flat for me if I could only have one amp.

He is definitely my favourite of the reviewers. And I like his tones too, but I can see some being heard as too polished. His leaning towards the Lukather/Huff sort of sounds really works for where my ear has been at the last year or so.

Another. Gets some good palm-mutey goodness in a few bits here or there.

That sounds good too. The market for Soldano is mostly 80s hard rock so it's no wonder these guys are doing the first demos. I'm sure there will be some legit metal guys doing demos eventually.nightflameauto wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 4:13 pm

I'm really tempted to buy this, but by the time I get this, a power amp, rack case etc ugh, it adds up quickly.
I'd also like to see an A/B of this vs the Synergy Syn2 with the SLO module.
Logically, the Synergy is more attractive to me for the price, smaller size and the ability to run other modules.
But the 14 y.o. in me wants the giant purple Soldano rack

Yeah I kind of just want to get one, and then a TC 2290 pedal to go along with my Eventide and bask in the glow of a lush, Lukather-esque forest of sound haha

That KSR looks badass......so does this Soldano. Not really my tone and tbh for the price of those 2 I'd just buy a different amp but damn that would be a super sweet setup.
Very curious about the IR section. I can't watch the entire video here but can you load 3rd party IRs? I assume yes and probably have to but maybe they're forced with stock IR?
