Chubtone pics

Post by eyeball987 »

I can't find my original post about this NGD so I started a new one. Pics were not uploading for me on the first one so it was useless anyway!

This one is going to be a keeper for a while. Stainless jumbos, Tonenerd Whiskey pickups, original San Dimas neck shape, and stays in tune surprisingly well. The only gripe I have is that the pickups are direct mounted and I can't lower the bass side just a hair.

Damn… that is absolutely gorgeous. Not gonna lie, if I were after a custom San Dimas style guitar, that would be super tempting.

Chubtone guitars are awesome. I played one that belonged to Steve Henning at one of the So Cal amp fests and it was an incredible guitar, it felt just like an old Charvel.

Very nice man!! Post pics of the whole guitar!!!

So it’s a little bass heavy tone? I think I remember mentioning if that would be the case. As a builder I notice things like pickup “spacing” and position and it looks to be a bit further away from the bridge than most guitars. So it’s a place where it’s simply picking Up a bit of a fatter sound from the string. Not wrong or right. My Fender HM Strat has a fair bit more space from the bridge than any of my other guitars and it definitely has a fatter warmer tone.

But good to hear it’s a keeper
