I have a bass with stainless steel frets, and I find the strings last about as long as they do on any other bass.

How long were you previously going on a set of strings?

it depends I guess.... on average I'd say I would normally change once a month (6 weeks would be really pushing it), regardless of how they felt because I found by that point they would lose their zing and bite... but I could also change after 2 weeks if I'm busy with gigs and rehearsals..

Curious how the NYXLs will hold up. Seems everyone has a different experience with em. Personally I've found they retain that new string tone significantly longer.

I stopped fucking around and switched to GHS burnished nickel rockers on all of my electrics. D'Addarios' are way too stiff out of the package. Then, even after they mellow out, they feel tight under my fingers. I doubt I can properly describe it.

Ernie Balls are the most trailer park strings ever.

GHS has alway been my fallback. Now I am there to stay.

so.... based on my post here I put the NYXLs on my EBMM and SG on May 19.... so it's almost 2 months now and they still sound and feel pretty damn good.... so I'm definitely impressed.... I have four more packs so I'm gonna be good for quite some time again.... I'm officially a convert

Which of D'addario's coated strings are similar to Elixir and worth checking out?

I think they have a coated string that is similar to Cleartones, which I think were terrible. Plus, they ate through my string cutter, which no other string has done before or since. Led me to believe they would chew through my frets, which was definitely not worth it. I also didn't think they lasted that long, either.

I think that's the XS.
