I Went To An Interesting Guitar Shop Today…

Good evening,

I am currently working in DeKalb, IL, and I discovered a second guitar shop yesterday. It was closed, so I went back this afternoon. The shop, which is called Aurora Music Company, is, by and large, like most guitar shops in smaller college towns, excluding La Crosse, WI, in that it mostly carries lower-end used gear, with some nice stuff. What makes Aurora different, is that some of the guitars, which are new, are made by the owner. He is inspired by older Ibanezezezezezez, and I’m surprised he hasn’t been sent a cease and desist. All good. But, not quite:

The fit and finish on them isn’t the best, in my opinion. There were visible glue lines on the fingerboards, they had tool marks, the paint jobs weren’t absolutely perfect, the fret ends were hot garbage, and the Hipshot bass trem bushings weren’t installed properly. However, I did like the feel of the bass neck I tried - very big, but nice and comfortable, and it’s not every day that a shop sells its own product. The owner was pretty cool, and he stood by his products. I’m not in the market for anything right now - I’m in the process of moving, and I need to get my finances in order - and there wasn’t anything here I would have purchased, but there is enough to intrigue me, and I would definitely come back.

I'm not a huge fan of the color but I'm sure they can make them in different colors. The prices are pretty reasonable
