Mark V clip in VII/IV

Post by spawnofthesith »

Tracked a rough scratch track for a new work in progress song so my drummer could practice it

Figured I might as well post it up since I don’t open the ol DAW much. But then I thought it sounded boring without drums so I entered into my personal hell trying to put together shit in 7 from grooves in the demo version of ssd5. They’re whack as hell and kind of gave up

One take/one track live looping
With drums:

Without drums:

Cleans sound ok but the distorted “Djent” part at the end sounds kinda bad :idk:

Your music is always very well written and interesting, man. I love how the parts interlace together and build up. It all sounds good to me. The heavy part sounds more like stoner/doom than djent. Kind of a fuzzed out tone. Which honestly, I like better than djent tone.

Thanks Billy, appreciate the kind words! :)

stoner/doom is definitely a huge influence on me, ironically the stupid reason I sold my first Mark V years ago because I didn't think it had enough doom cred

Listening back this morning with fresh ears I don't dislike it as much. I'm using the poly capo in the hx one on that part to drop a full octave to sort of simulate a down tuned 8 string. I guess that plus the odd time and syncopation is where I got djent from

Sounds sweet, I dig it. Makes me think of some maybe of Elder's more recent stuff? Or something in that vein although more clean tones.

Thanks dude!

Hmm I guess I should check out some new elder stuff. I used to rock the first album or 2 a lot back in the day, but those albums basically sounded like a Sleep spin off  I’ve heard their style kind of changed though, and I’ve been meaning to get back in the loop there
