I believe you only need power if you're using the XLR out with the internal speaker sim. If your interface has phantom power, you can use that to power it.
It's getting enough juice from your amp to run the fans.

That is mostly correct. I use the XLR out and phantom power from my interface for mine. I don’t use the speaker sim and it won’t work over XLR without the Phantom Power.
