Marshall cabs other than the 1960s?

Post by bonano »

Jus’ curious. Are there other Marshall speaker cabs other than the 1960A/B that have a good rep?

The Mode Four cabs are great. And the TV cabs.

I mean, isn't that technically a 1960TV? I'd say either get a 1960 or similar cab from Sourmash, Mojotone, etc, or get a Hiwatt type cab. I think they measure about 31x31x15 and have a bass port on the back panel of the cab.

Marshall 1966A/B - 2x12 cab. Angled speaker load and looks similar to a 1960 but smaller. Looks similar to…
Marshall 1965A/B - 4x10 cabs. Usually had G12L35s or G12S50s. I think these were a favorite of Mike Ness. Never seen one in the wild before but I’d love to own one.
Marshall 425A/B - basically the 1960s but repackaged a bit for the Vintage Modern amps. Comes with G12C Celestions. Some people like em, some hate em.
More guitars than anyone could need

Yeah I think they call the TV, 1960TV, but it's a very different cab than the regular 1960.

The Mode Four is completely different than both the regular 1960 or TV. Great cabs, especially for high gain. Close to a Mesa OS in terms of construction and tone.

I had a JCM800 lead 1982a, G12-80 speakers made in the 80s. I somewhat miss it. I liked it better than G12T75 but not V30.

Speaking of Vintage 30s, I have two Marshall G12 Vintage coming in and I need to find something to pair them with. Likely G12-65 or G12T-75.
