I'm a total noob to midi switchers. I guess I'm trying to wrap my head around how these smaller units benefit over the baked in preset switching on the HX one? I guess first and formost you don't have to be tapping two buttons at once on the HX one... but what are some other improvements of using an external switcher?
first off, to read the preset list on the HX One is more or less impossible standing up, so having a few presets at my feet ready to go makes using multiple presets in the HX One on the fly MUCH easier.... the other really nice thing about the Morningstar controllers is the ability to customize how the switches work, you can program press, release, double tap, long press just to name a few so I was able to program the Flux feature on the HX to one of the switches but make it momentary which the HX One can't do on it's own.

Having the ability to do those two things made it worth the price for me... I'm sure with time I might find some other ways to interface the two units but for now I'm good to go
I can't remember what my signature was..... I'm sure it was something interesting..... :quote:

Yeah these Morningstar units are great. I need to get one to make full usage of my Flight Time delay. At the moment I'm only using 2 presets on the pedal footswitches, which is fine but I'd like to access more presets.

Very intriguing :hmm:

Do you know if it can "pass through" other pedals in a chain on its way to what you actually want it controlling? I have 3 pedals in a midi chain that's just for midi clock info. Would it be able to go through two pedals in the chain without changing anything anything on those, and only making changes on the hx one?

it can.... once you give each pedal it's own midi address, each preset can send up to 16 commands on multiple channels... midi clock is universal so you can also set one switch to be tap tempo via the midi clock and sync all

You can use different MIDI channels and set each pedal to its own channel.

Or you can simply copy presets. Say you have a delay on for preset 1 and on preset 2 you want to keep the same delay sound but make a change to another pedal. Copy the delay preset 1 to 2, so it "changes" but it's the same sound, then make the necessary changes on the other pedal..

interesting scale.... would 5/5 poverties be the worst possible score?
