Cheap amp that runs 6L6's

Post by maggotspawn »

Looking for a cheap amp that runs 6L6's.
Honestly a Valveking might work. I have a stash of 6L6's but nothing to run them in. Jet City perhaps. 50 watts would be great.

Jet City JCA50
Peavey Valveking, XXX, Ultra Plus The latter two not as cheap these days but worth looking into. Don’t rule out a VTM either.
B-52 AT-100. Honestly it’s not an awful amp. Not stellar but workable.
More guitars than anyone could need

Lol, thanks guys. I'll look into a Jet City, but found a Valveking combo for $249.

Bourbon struck. Pulled the trigger on a Valveking combo.

JCA50 all the way. Best made cheap amp out there. Crunch channel is very Marshall, overdrive channel is Soldano. Worth picking up!

Another vote for JCA50. All. Damn. Day. Or the Amelia.

I have a B52 AT100 that is actually a damn good sounding amp. I may be putting it up for sale though (wink wink). . .

Oddball mention goes to Krank Nineteen80 Jr. 20w 6L6. Very huge sounding for low wattage.

PRS MT15? Can be found around $500. Another big sounding amp for "15 watts"

Line 6 Spider Valve? Combos are well under $300 all day. Heads around $400 give or take. I have a 2x12 combo that's 40w that I'm also looking to sell . . .

I actually gigged with a B52 AT100 for a couple of years. It was my only amp at the time. I was somewhat worried that it would crap out on me, but it never let me down. I ended up trading it for a Carvin Legacy which was way too loose and dark for my liking.
