joking aside, this is actually a valid point. I already have other amps I can run delays into. Maybe I should just leave this stock. I don't mind playing it dry for the most part. Some amps are hard to play dry but plexis and 800s never really feel too dry for me.
If that was my only amp it would be a different story, but I have options here. Food for thought.

Looking at the back of the amp now, there are 3 jacks, 2 for speakers and one for DI. I so I could install the Metro effects loop in the DI jack and one of the speaker jacks and leave only one jack for speaker out. That would allow me to install the loop without drilling the amp. I think that is what I am going to do since the loop is 85 bucks and I won't have to carry anything extra.
If you go the Metro Loop option without drilling, amp their option is to use a TRS jack in the DI spot for the loop and splitting it out with one of these:
My first “big” amp was a Crate GT212 that had a loop like this. I asked a while back in the Metro Loop group on Facebook if it would work, and they said it should.
I’ve thought about doing this myself if I grab an 800. That way, I can use the second speaker output hole for a PPIMV
The TRS thing is a good idea.
But the PPIMV and the loop don't work well together. The goal if the PPIMV is to get power amp distortion at low volume, but if the power amp is distorting, there will be distortion after the loop.
also, when you inevitably flip it, you'll get to say "clean unmodded 800" rather than having to go into the weird details of what you did, why they should trust your handiwork, and how to undo it if they just want a stock amp

Yeah any mods would be done by Pete Cage and he's really well known by Marshall enthusiasts but I'm pretty much giving up on the idea and keeping it stock.

I do!!!!! And I figured out the delay thing. I was using my Hot Plate attenuator the other day to keep the volume manageable at home and I realized it has a line out. So i figured I could just set the Hot Plate to load, take the line out into my delay and then go from the delay to the FX return of any of my other amps. It works really well. I'd have to carry 2 heads to the gig but it's good to have a back up anyway.
