Also, don’t the horizontal-input 800s have the DI out on the back? You could run that directly to a second power amp instead of a load box. Would be one less piece of equipment to carry

True, I can take the signal straight from the DI out. But the amp still needs a load.

I have the load part of the equation figured out, I have a Hot Plate attenuator and a Suhr Reactive Load, both will work well.

I think the Bluguitar will work for the reamp part. I just tried it last night with decent results. Need to see how it will work at practice.

Just set a Carbon Copy up front with the mix way down. I love that aesthetic since I have the matching 86 cab

Yeah that definitely works although it's a different sound than post delay.

Not to further enable your buying habits (or maybe I am?), but wouldn’t that Palmer Supreme Soaker do the loop thing as well as the Palmer thing and knock out a few pieces of gear at once?

I ran wet and dry into a single stereo cab for years. I found that rearranging the wiring so the speakers were not L/R but top left and bottom right, and top right and bottom left sounded more natural and seemed a little wider.

I ran wet and dry into a single stereo cab for years. I found that rearranging the wiring so the speakers were not L/R but top left and bottom right, and top right and bottom left sounded more natural and seemed a little wider.

Looking at the back of the amp now, there are 3 jacks, 2 for speakers and one for DI. I so I could install the Metro effects loop in the DI jack and one of the speaker jacks and leave only one jack for speaker out. That would allow me to install the loop without drilling the amp. I think that is what I am going to do since the loop is 85 bucks and I won't have to carry anything extra.

If you go the Metro Loop option without drilling, amp their option is to use a TRS jack in the DI spot for the loop and splitting it out with one of these:

My first “big” amp was a Crate GT212 that had a loop like this. I asked a while back in the Metro Loop group on Facebook if it would work, and they said it should.

I’ve thought about doing this myself if I grab an 800. That way, I can use the second speaker output hole for a PPIMV

True, but it's not like the amp will stick around that long anyway and your DSL already has a loop
