I’ve not. I’ve been happy with the G12H75s in my Metro cab for a while now. And the G12M25 Greenbacks in my 1960 are excellent. Only thing I’m considering speaker wise is the 10” Greenback or Creamback for my Vibrolux. The current Webers are great for cleans and medium gain. But I’ve been playing that amp through my 1960A cab with heavier fuzz and I love it. So hence I’m looking at those for my combo (yes I realize open back cab vs closed back will make a difference too).

He actually does a really good old school Araya high scream. He had to work at it cause if you look at him you wouldn’t think that’s gonna come from him! Lol. But he does a good job. Most everyone who comments thinks he sounds just like him. Idk about that but it’s in the ballpark for sure. He’s a guy in the band who’s always been a cove band guy. So he goes at it like trying to sound as close as possible. I basically play it my way, but my way is a ton of aggression which is how early Slayer was. The drummer nails his parts. And hits hard. And the other guitarist, I don’t feel is as good of a rhythm player as me but he basically learned all the solos note for note. Which I only do on the ones that are more “written”. Otherwise, it’s slayer, I know how to go off like Slayet and wail out some leads! Haha. But my point is, we all kinda do something really good and it’s worked out surprisingly well. I’m not sure where you are at, but we play out of state quite a bit. Working on getting down to Florida! Cause then that’s a vacation! And if we play 2 shows, it’ll more than pay for the whole trip, and extra stay… Trying to make that happen
St louis. Probably too far and many bands skip over here but I would definitely come out, I still go to a fair amount of shows.
We just played Pops.. Twice! Once in November, then they had us back last month. Cool ass venue. Had very good, solid turnouts and response each time. I know they said “we’ll do it again!” So we’ll be back
it works for Slayer, i think it might be a little dark and dry for your normal stuff though?? i have an icebucker in my Les Paul, it sounds good but i gotta get it out of that guitar and into something else, that guitar is so uncomfortable i dont even feel like i can make an accurate opinion of the thing.

It’s been one of my favorite places to play so far. Cool staff, great sound and sound guy. Obviously we have a guarentee for the out of State shows, but POPs offered us a bonus of $2 a head for anything over 300 people. Ended up being just under 350. So we were thinking an extra $100, ok cool. But it was $2 for EVERYONE. So to basically get a $700 bonus on top of the guarentee is sumthin I haven’t experienced before where the venue will happily pay extra for a solid turnout. Obviously that place holds more but for us coming 4.5 hours to pull 350 was a great success! And as soon as we walked in, cause we had soundcheck early at 2pm, they handed us $500 for our rooms and food. I know it sounds like I’m bragging but it really is just surprising and cool when venues treat you like a REAL band and roll out the hospitality. That ended up being the most pay we ever got by the end with the guarentee plus bonus and hospitality pay. And we’ve played to much bigger crowds. Just saying, that place rules and they are super cool to deal with. We’ve all agreed we’ll play whenever they will have us!
We played a venue last month that we played some time last year. They couldn't pay us last year, but didn't tell us until we showed up, so we played anyway. Last month, they payed us for both shows! Pretty cool, especially considering as a local original metal band, we get screwed on pay most of the time haha.
I like 5150s. The rest of you bullshit amps can get fucked.

No that's actually really good. For local metal bands you literally have to pay to play there unless you have a huge following and can sell tons of tickets.
My favorite Venue was Fubar but the owner Robert Fancher who you should talk to for more stl shows had to get a new venue due to city codes. He now owns The Red Flag
Tributes/covers pay better across the board since you are playing for a pre-built audience (by the original band). So if you do it WELL, then you get great gigs.
But in my experience doing originals, the better the show/venue the more you get paid. We got $1200 to open for Extreme. $900 to open for Steel Panther etc. All of which are shows I would have gladly played for free.
The local bar? Pays nothing and expects us to sell tickets for them. It's a sad fact of life. Hopefully we will eventually get back to getting bigger gigs again, that band was doing well and was torn down by fucking drama. Then it's back to square one, or zero actually but what can you do, you gotta keep going... .
