A tale of 2 amps

I like 5150s. The rest of you bullshit amps can get fucked.

They sound the way they look. The EVH sounds bigger and wider, the Mark is more mid centered and smaller.

I don't dislike the Mark - at all, it's a great amp - but it's really hard to beat the 5150 tone for this type of metal, IMHO. It's like rock and Marshalls, ithey just sound "right"

Really wouldn’t say one is better than the other. Both sound good and “work” about the same for me in this mix

Appreciate the feedback. I agree. In the mix, they aren't too different. The 5150 has a little more give and width than the Mesa, but it somewhat washes out once it's all mixed.

im still digging the mark more than any other amp youve had, its just so smooth but so aggressive and just works for your riffing imo, the evh certainly dosent sound bad though

I do like the Mark VII a lot, but I think I ultimately still like the IV better. I probably need to eventually get another IV.

I'd love to get a IV or a III but prices are still pretty crazy, although they've been slowly coming down from the 2020 highs

I would love another IV. That’s one of 2 or 3 actual amps I miss owning. I don’t want to pay the price for another IV currently. Under $1500? Much more reasonable. Closer to $1000? All day.

Yeah, the $2k+ pricing is dumb. Mine were around $1250 each when I had them, but once they start hitting $1400, I could be in for one again, depending on condition. I've seen a couple local pickup deals for that price, but not anyway near me, so still waiting haha. But yeah, I agree. One of the amps I miss owning.
