DSL red channel lead 1 only...
Is there a single channel amp out there that sounds like the JCM 2000 DSL red channel lead 1 with deep in (on) and tone shift out (off) and that's it...no other modes or channels?
"Just buy a DSL and keep it on red channel lead 1 with the deep in and the tone shift out!" I get that (and I already have that), but I'm curious if there actually is such a thing.
And I mean an amp that wouldn't need pedals or anything. Just that straight up red channel lead 1 with deep in and tone shift out sound all time.

For the most part. there isn't. Trust me I've looked that would be my ideal amp.
The Friedman BE channel is close. So if you mod a 2203/4 to the BE specs, it sounds very close to the DSL. And the Friedman Phil X signature amp is a single channel BE, so that would be the closest amp I could think of. But it's still not exactly the same and the Friedman is $3.5k vs the $800-1k DSLs go for.
So I just keep using the DSL as a single channel amp. Marshall should make a single channel DSL100 on a full size headshell and a DSL40 head on a smallbox headshell. But it doesn't seem that they are ever going in that direction since the current HR version had MORE features added.

Re: DSL red channel lead 1 only...
yeah...I mean...I've got all the killer amps I would ever need (and I still love my DSL and I use it as a single channel amp staying put on red channel lead 1), but having a simpler build DSL that was only red channel would kill.
Are there any Ceriatones that would come close to this?

Nope. Ceriatone are either the stock Marshalls or the Jose style mods, which are cool but very different than the DSL.cliffenstein wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 9:36 pm Are there any Ceriatones that would come close to this?

I wish someone would create a DSL mod for 800s lol
But most people prefer 800s over DSLs so it would be counterintuitive

Stumbled across a DSL100H today on FB for under $500. Was too busy with work and spaced it until now. I should probably buy that.

this talk has me veering back into DSL land...
Along with this video. I don't want to play VH with it, but I like that sound.

Yeah man, I don't chase EVH's tone so I don't know how "accurate" a DSL would be for that, but it's a great marshall tone nonetheless!!
