Gave up guitar time to sort the gear room.

Post by nightflameauto »

I took two days off last week to dedicate to my "hobby." I'm sore as shit and never really played guitar until late Sunday, but I think it's worth it.

Favorite part is having the guitars organized and available, instead of buried in stacked cases or just laying around the floor or leaned up against walls. Second favorite part:

Cables organized instead of thrown in a tangled mass in the corner. Also, books, CDs and spare other media, plus pedals and power supplies and such now on a nice shelf instead of scattered about the floor. It's starting to feel like a useful space, finally.

Bonus pic: Bedroom setup:

I run one cable for the guitar/bass and one for the microphones between the rooms when recording. Can crank things up back there and keep levels sane in the recording room.

Hopefully I can start making some progress on songs now that I'm not stepping through a minefield of gear every time I go into the recording room. :cop:

Yeah, it makes a huge difference.

I was having trouble motivating myself to go back there and get to it. Now I'm having trouble prying myself out of there to get some sleep. Kinda nice to have a space I enjoy being in to get some music work done.

Nice job!!! Nothing worse than dealing with a pile of twisted cables every time you pickup a guitar!!!
What a convenience having two rooms for isolation - very nice job!!! :rawk: :rawk: :rawk: :rawk: :rawk:

What's that Cloudlifter thingy that looks like an amp?

Thanks, man.

The Cloudlifter is the rack mount, 4 mic version of the inline Cloudlifter mic amp. Basically, it takes phantom power and gives you a big gain boost on the mic, and to my ear also ads a bit of sparkle that isn't harsh on the top end. Granted, I only use it on certain sources anymore, but it's handy when doing vocal takes here or there, or late-night low-volume demo work that I don't want to have sound like trash.

Looks nice man!! I need to do the same to my studio. Totally worth it taking the time to organize the room.

I need to do the same thing in my studio. It's a mess in there right now and it's stressing me out. Not to mention I can't ever find shit in there. If I used the amount of time I've been spending looking for shit to actually organize the room, it'd be a lot easier .
