So just before I recorded this silliness I am posting my main preamp and power amp got stolen..
- IR-D and KSR PA50 (I really like the IR option and being able to run into anyones FX return..super handy)
I quickly replaced it with the cheapest but decent sounding solution I could get.... I had my own stuff to record and a session booked with a friend at a proper studio the next week, so I grabbed the following:
- PRS HSRX20, Angry Charlie Pedal for Rhythm and an SLO pedal for leads
….and it sounded pretty much exactly the same as I have for the last 10 years...lol.
I am guessing a lot of users of the forum are also at the point of finding more expensive ways to sound the same..?????
I'm not saying don't buy gear or anything like that.. Its just alway super funny when you feel like you have changed your sound and your mates are like.. ummm... nooo you sound the same buddy..
I wish I had anywhere near the chops of the "newer" players...
Technique has gotten so insane...I'm super old.. ) !!! (Matteo Manscuso, Tim Henson, Tosin Abasin..etc..etc...just plain crazy)
I think its forcing a lot of people to now focus on hooks and grooves as best they can...hahahahaha
I have been sitting around and playing to the Stingray Chill station vs any real practice routine so thought; why not do that vs straight up rock thingy.. Not that anybody cares or wants the above..but like we all know, its aways fun to try stuff......
And I can feel the "sounds the same no matter the gear" thing. I've got two solid state amps, a 20 watt DSL and a 6505 1992, and aside from depth on the bigger amp, I have them all dialed to sound damn near identical when your standing in front of them.
