Useless clips

Maybe this is dumb, but Endtime and I were talking the other day about using a lower gain track on recordings, so I started messing around with that a little bit today. Various combinations of red and blue channel, both higher and lower gain.

All EVH 100S into my Mesa OS 412, SM57 on a V30, Lewitt MCP240 Pro on a Redback. RME Fireface.

This mixed up one has one side red high gain, blue low gain and the other side blue with SD-1 high gain and red low gain.

Yeah I like the Blue/Blue too.

Adding a lower gain track is great. Adds definition and you can hear the pick attack better.

I'm pretty low gain to start with, but I do something similar by doubling my rhythm parts with a single coil guitar. Basically the same concept...

Makes sense you guys like blue/blue, too. Blue has that more Marshally vibe happening. Red adds this weight to everything that I think feels so brutal haha.

Endtime and I were chatting about some EQ stuff last night, so I gave something a try.

This is red high blue low with some additional EQ.

It's a toss up between Blue high, red low and Red high, blue low. They have the best chug to clarity.

Yeah I think with the additional eq it fits in the mix best without stepping on the bass players dick. Sounds crushing!
