Sennheiser HD650 vs Massdrop HDxx

Post by Maddnotez »

Anyone use mass drop for audio? I got a keyboard from mass drop many years ago and it's served me well but audio is a bit different I suppose.

The only difference on paper that I can find is the frequency range goes up to 41k instead of 39k of the HD650.

It's half the price new......but I can get a used pair of actual sennheiser for the same price. Need some better headphones to mix with and im curious how these would be.

I haven't. Not really sure how they can have basically the same headphones for less than half the cost.

Anyway, I'd get some Beyerdynamic DT700 pros lol. I never really liked Sennheiser headphones.

Sennheiser headphones always seem to have a bass bump. Fine for listening, but I've not been a fan of them for mixing. I'm with Raf's suggestion.

Or wait for one of those wild sales on Slate VSX that happens twice a year. I haven't found a better pair of headphones for mixing, and I've spent far more than those cost on some.

Will have to keep an eye out for them thanks.....Definitely don't like bass..that's the issue with my sdotd monitors I got for cheap. They're powered and when I get them sounding great it ends up very bass heavy in other systems

I have the Massdrop AKG K7XX headphones.
I use them with Somarworks correction software.
Pretty happy with this setup.
