Maybe it will be in a few years... especially, if all those AI bands on Spotify start to take off.
It's definitely a threat if you're doing commercial music for advertising etc. That will go away soon.

If you're an artist releasing albums that have a following, the people that like your music are not going to abandon you because of AI.
But there will always be the threat of AI copping your stuff. At this point, it seems to be the Wild West.

Would anyone say that, a large majority of today's music. for advertising, television and movies, is written, composed and recorded in an office on a computer, with no real musicians or real instruments except for vocals and a keyboard controller?

I can't remember the last time I saw a movie or television show who's music wasn't just synths, drum machines and rarely a guitar.... and even the guitar is , more than likely, programmed software.

These "office musicians" will use AI to make their jobs easier.

I can see "real musicians" using AI to get ideas for new songs.... just like people have been doing for decades; popping on a vinyl record, CD or streaming an old song to get new ideas.
But, I dunno... the few times I went to an AI song website, the results were incredibly boring.

Not entirely. There are some legit guys doing this. Michael Nielsen, Blues Saraceno etc... it's a good source of income for a lot of legit players. In L.A. especially. Sucks if it gets taken away by AI bullshitt . :(

Ian Lewis from Inner Circle lives off the COPS theme song. Over $20M in royalties or something like that. He licensed the song for $2500 plus royalties, best deal of his life lol

Roku TV now has a COPS channel where they play the show 24h a day, 365 days an year. Imagine the checks coming from it lol

The way Hollywood execs are salivating over AI, I would expect most movie scores will be produced by AI in a few years, whether it's producing decent output or not. They seem to love cutting people out of the process.

Yeah man...unless you're Taylor Swift, the real money is in licensing, not gigging or selling albums.
The two song writers in the Go-Gos are loaded while the other two band members are dirt poor.
The duo, known as The Rembrandts, were set for life after writing the theme song for the tv show, Friends.
That's why bands and musicians need to be really careful about signing their publishing rights away.

Yeah publishing and royalties and all that stuff is just something I never really learned about, i was always focused on things like making sure my other guitar player would bring his tuner or when my drummer was gonna try and pull off the unpracticed tom stunt coming in on the E or my bass player being too loud LOL, and people ask why I’d rather play by myself in my studio

Having had my share of nightmare scenarios either in bands or attempting to put together bands?

Whoever said "Hell is other people" clearly had a band.
