Heard elsewhere SRP is $3499. I'd consider that price for the IIc+, which is impossible to find used, but a 2 channel recto? That seems a little steep.

The 2c+ made sense. Kinda. I mean the JP2c should have filled that void. But whatver. I get it..
This is Gibson fucking Gibsoning another company they acquired. This may be a somewhat shrewd business move by trying to capitalize on the lore of specific amps and eras, but that’s what they are legit cashing in on. This won’t be somehow BETTER than what’s out there. And if it is, that’s like saying all the modern shit Mesa is making sucks. . And before you know it this is gonna be another company that USED to be great but It’s had its legs cut off by the mighty Gibson…

Apparently, this is the Rev F circuit, which is supposed to be different and more coveted. I'm not a huge Recto fan so I don't know much about the different versions, but the olriginal Series F amps were already selling for $4-5k.nightflameauto wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 3:03 pm Heard elsewhere SRP is $3499. At any rate, I'm not ever paying that much for a Recto. The last one I bought (3ch multiwatt), was $1300 used and still not worth keeping for me.

Blackface recto's always looked so good. Maybe this will shake up the used market a bit also.

I'm probably not enough into Rectos to notice the difference between the revs. They don't do much for me on their own, but I like them as a fattening layer along with tighter sounding amps. I just know a Recto at 3k+ is gonna trip my "No" trigger every time.Guitarbilly wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 7:44 pmApparently, this is the Rev F circuit, which is supposed to be different and more coveted. Yup. Mesa is (was) an ever-evolving company, where-as Gibson has been making variations on the same 5 guitars for the last 50 years. I would assume the first Gibson owns Mesa meeting was making a big list of Iconic Mesa amps and plans to reissue them with a big price tag. I'm waiting for the Standard, Classic, & Deluxe versions of the the Mesa IIC+.Endtime wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 5:31 pm The 2c+ made sense. Kinda. I mean the JP2c should have filled that void. Ya know this really grinds my gears. You have completely overlooked the hundreds of hours of R&D that Gibson put into the 2019 Jimi Hendrix tribute guitar. I mean up until that point, literally nobody had ever thought of a 25.5" scale alder-bodied guitar with three single coil pickups, plastic faceplate and a tremolo available in white and black.Matt wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 4:14 pmYup. What about the literally tens of hours that went into this 2006 gem, available in 5 different colors for your pleasure.
Re: Mesa reissuing the 90's era 2-channel Rectos
I can say with some confidence being the ship I work at is one of the longest serving and biggest Mesa dealers in Illinois. The owner is in touch with the dudes at Mesa quite often. Cause I said the same thing when Gibson got em. They are gonna jack up all the prices and cash it out and ruin the real legacy. And he said “No… No, that’s not what’s happening. Randall wanted to sell and Gibson is just gonna buy it and let it run as it always has.” I think we see that was basically a lie. And even the owner tried to defend the price increases on what everyone else does, supply and inflation . But the numbers simply don’t line up. It’s the Gibson model when they acquire brands.Matt wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 4:14 pmYup.
