Re: What are the go-to IRs right now?

The GGD Contenders is nice, easy to use not a bunch of folders to sort through, but pricey at $60 but you get a good variety. Ownhammer is really good, but you do get a lot more mic and position files which may be good or bad depending on if you like having a lot of options to sort through. The Yor...

Yeah York Audio is good. Ownhammer too.
I recently bought a Bogren pack that has some good sounding ones but the idiotic names are irritating lol

Re: DiMarzio Super 3?

I agree about the HM Reissue. I was really excited when they announced because the original HM is one of my favorite guitars, but the reissue was way off. It's not a bad guitar per se, but like ET said, it's just a strat with the HM look and scale. Every other aspect of it that made it special was o...

Re: DiMarzio Super 3?

I keep saying I’m going to put one back in my HM. I put mine together from parts and while I had the original singles I didn’t have the bridge pickup. So I went with an Evolution and have been using since. But I should do a Super 3. You definitely should. The HM with the Super 3 is hard rock heaven.

Re: DiMarzio Super 3?

I'm a huge fan of the Super 3 on superstrats. It makes them sound like a Les Paul with Super Ds. I have an Ibanez RG with one here and it sounds as fat as my Gibsons.

Re: Preference over Slant vs. Straight 1960s or other cabs?

Generally like a straight but doesn’t really matter. BUT.. and some have tried to theorize why, angled cabs and the actual Angled speakers of those cabs, usually are the best spot for mic’ing and recording. I won’t get into peoples theories and ideas why, but I have found most of my favorite tones ...

Re: Splawn or Friedman?

To be honest, you'll get most of the same sound out of a DSL or SLX. This has been my issue with most of this type of amps. The DSL usually gets very close to them and it's an amp that you can get for $600-800 every day. Not to say that some of these amps aren't better or have different features et...

Re: Guitar Lessons, Tips, Techniques, Etc. Online on YouTube or elsewhere? Reading, charts, videos and whatnot.

During the pandemic I took the Paul Gilbert online course and it was great. Huge impact on my playing. He has several levels of membership including one where you do a Zoom call with him every month so he can check on your progress and give you tips. That's the one I did and it was great. He's a gre...
