Re: Splawn or Friedman?

I've had GAS for a Friedman BE50 Deluxe since playing one at GC a few weeks ago. It's voiced brighter than most other Friedman amps and has killer clean and dirty tones.

Re: Anyone ever play on a Krank Rev 4x12?

They're kind of unconventional cabs: oversized, frontloaded, and (solid?) poplar construction. If you're not into the Eminence Legends, I think you could do better for $500. FWIW, I liked the 1x12 version.

Re: Incoming NAD! Russia won

Congrats Billy! Seems like a great amp.

I had the Hot Rod 25 for a bit which is supposed to be very similar. The SLO 30 fixes my two gripes with the HR 25—lack of depth control and funky loop. I actually found myself preferring the crunch mode with a boost.

Re: Got my broken cab today yay. Is this fixable?

Bummer! That rabbet joint that Bogner uses seems prone to breaking in transit. I've seen it on other used cabs and personally had it happen to an Uberschall head I bought. It's a far cry from Marshall's finger joints.

Re: Engls...

I briefly had the original Powerball which was ok. It's a very compressed sound as I'm sure you know. I sold it because my Mark III could cop similar tones and was more versatile.

ENGL just strikes me as a less reliable European Peavey, except with dinky transformers (barring maybe the Powerball II).

Re: NAD: Mrak IV

I wish my EVH 2x12 had higher power handling so I could try it with that. I all around like thst cab better with my other heads it can take You'd been fine unless you're cranking it, especially with any of the power/voltage reducing modes engaged (tweed, Class A, triode). Mesa is liberal with watta...

Re: VHT slant 4X12 stock speakers?

The oldest VHT cabs with the borderless logo came with V30s (see pic below). Those are non-original though because they're post-2002 Chinese V30s. I'd say you made out well though because I'm not a fan of P50Es. https://www.rig-talk.com/forum/attachments/191966233_10159951983594644_67636736591807091...

Re: The Dentist Office: The unofficial PRS discussion and photo lounge

Nice rack! A Morin preamp is responsible for one of my favourite tones ever. Thanks man. I'm guessing XYZ's "Hungry"? Yessir! That hot, bright tone just hits me in all the right places. I’ve been aiming at that sound the last 15 years or so. That is a great tone. Single tracked with some ...
