Hello,
I have an older MIM Telecaster neck sitting around that feels great to play but is in need of a re-fret. I am planning on using this neck for my first DIY re-fret. I've watched lots of videos and read a great deal of literature, on-line sites, etc, and invested in the right tools. Having said that, I feel confident diving right in. However, one thing I haven't been able to really understand is: How to determine what fret tang width to get? Is there a general rule of thumb regarding tang width vs slot width?
In other words, if my fret slot is, for example, .023", where should I start looking in regard to tang width? 0.20? 0.22? And do I need to take the stud into account?
Thanks!
