Spector Euro4 LX 35 (35” scale) It (EMG TW-X w/TP preamp) sounds a lot different from my Spector NS-4 (EMG P/J w/BTS), but I’m digging the difference. I bought it for use in C#, however it’s currently set up for BEAD. Although I bought it for a specific purpose I might leave it in B for a bit to see how I like it before I make changes. The previous owner upgraded the EMG TW to TW-X and flipped the bridge for a better single coil sound when split. I had plans on converting it to a P/J because that’s what I’m used to, but I’m thinking I’m going to give these TWs a spin for awhile as it sounds great.

Beautiful. Spectors are one of my favorite basses. I've been trying to talk my wife into getting one.

For me Spectors and Warwicks are the best basses ever yet built

For various reason (cough*Mike Starr*cough) I wanted a white Spector... I think I might like this better.

Congrats on the awesome bass! I have a Euro5 LX and love it. I swapped the pickups for X Series versions too. I have come to really love X Series, even in my guitars. I would love to get a 4 string NS with the P-J setup. I have found that is the sound in my head for bass guitars. The humbucker EMGs are great too, but a different vibe.
What amp are you using? I am running a GK Fusion 550, and they sound great together.

I'm using an SVT. I have an NS4CR with P/J and it's a killer sound. Between the Spector, an SVT and a BDDI... it's pretty much the 90s. The humbuckers are different... trying to get used to them, but everything is dialled in for P/J. The intent for the new Euro was to permanently set it up for C# (hence the 35" scale) and drop a P/J and BTC in it, but I want to give the TW-X and Tonepump a go for a few months to see if it grows on me. I tried it last night with my band and the humbuckers sound super thick, but they're not as punchy in the mix as the P pickup.

They definitely are a different vibe for sure. That is an awesome rig. My Euro5 is 35" too, and I have it in AEADG. The extra inch allowed me to use my favorite strings, which are round core, in that tuning. I also have two E-II basses with Music Man style pickups, and they are even more full sounding than the EMGs in the Spector. I can see what people see in that style, but again the P/J is my jam. Have you thought about trying an EQ pedal to fine tune the new bass, since everything is setup for the P/J bass?
I bet that rig sounds incredible!

I haven't thought about using an EQ, but I'm still just fiddling with them. Mostly trying to figure out how to best make them work for me. Been wondering of most use them like a PJ and favour the neck pickup, or if they use it like a Stingray and favour the bridge pickup?
I only used it for a few songs last night where I could use the B as a thumb rest and play it like a 3 string bass, will use it a bit more this Sunday and see if I can get it to sit in the mix how I want. If it doesn't work out I'll order a 35PX and 35JX for it, but I want to give it an honest effort before I decide humbuckers aren't my thing.

I bet you will get it figured out. I feel like the mids are different in the humbuckers than the P/J. I am looking forward to the report from Sunday.

Are those 35’s or 40’s ? Either way get the P which is standard treble side up like your Spector or the reverse which is treble side down like a fender. Technically EMG has that backwards but whatever. That’ll give you the P sound and leave the split J as is. Quick connect drop right in.

35. I saw EMG had a specific 35P4 for it, and every review was a Spector owner. Never thought about keeping the TW as my J pickup. Makes sense. Can’t quick connect as the TW are a 7 pin connector and the other end is soldered in. Previous owner swapped TW for TW-X, swapped the preamp and made it 18v, then returned to stock preamp for sale (left it 18v). The work is good, but you can tell is been cut and resoldered a few times. If I don’t learn how to get along with the humbuckers I’m probably going to make the decision to swap everything at once (pickups and preamp) and build a new harness. Right now I’m trying to figure out if it’s the humbuckers I’m not really digging or the preamp. The Tonepump has a boost up around 6k and all it does is add high frequency ping… I can’t get the clank I’m used to… but I don’t know if humbuckers clank the way a P or J pickup does?

I think the tonepump has a in internal gain control , start with that all the way down then turn up if needed. Does the other Spector have a HAZ , SNCpre at TB makes a perfect clone. I dropped one in the NS2000 and its perfect .
